To give permanency to something that was destined for the fire or decay is hugely satisfying. All my material is derived from purposefully harvested or naturally fallen timber and never destroyed solely for my craft. The revealed "imperfections" in the wood as the turning process progresses, are embraced and every effort is made to incorporate them into the final piece. Most of the pieces I make are functional, but I always endeavour to add artistic flair as appropriate and when the material allows.
